Dirty filter image

A clean air filter not only improves your indoor air quality, but it can also improve your heating and cooling system’s airflow and efficiency. This can help lower your utility bill and extend the life of your equipment.

How often should you replace your filter?

In general, a 1″ filter should be replaced every month. If you have pets, children, smoke and/or have allergies, it will need to be replaced more frequently.

Don’t want to replace it that often?

Get a high efficiency 4” media filter and you only have to replace it every 6 -12 months.

Important!

If you run your heating and cooling system with a dirty or plugged filter for too long, it will cause low air flow and poor system performance. This will eventually cause fan motor, heat exchanger and/or compressor failure.

In our main office, we have a display that showcases an actual dirty filter that was the root cause of a system failure. This resulted in a very costly repair, much higher than the cost of regular maintenance and filter replacements. You can help extend the lifetime of your system by replacing your filter regularly and completing regular maintenance.
